Empowering Students with Education, Careers Guidance, and Real-World Experience
At Longdon Hall, we aim to provide students with a strong education that is complemented by robust careers information and the personal development curriculum which is designed to help them transition towards their goals. We will endeavour to make clear links between curriculum content and real-life application.
Careers education is an important part of our work with children and young people at Longdon Hall School. We work to give all pupils a clear overview of the possible career choices available to them, and support pupils in preparing for their chosen career and future pathways.
In addition to encouraging students to think about and plan their futures, CEIAG (careers education, information, advice and guidance) provides an invaluable opportunity for us to motivate and inspire our young people to fulfil their potential, it is for this reason that CEIAG is embedded across KS3 and KS4 at Longdon Hall, with hopes to soon introduce CEIAG into our KS2 curriculum. As a learning community, we are fully committed to providing the students in our care with the very best educational opportunities, helping guide them to make the best choices with regard to their personal, social and educational development.
All year groups in the senior school will meet with employers and other outside agencies and providers to gain a broad insight into a variety of options and experiences; this will assist them in making informed choice post-16. As part of Careers Advice, Guidance and Development, all KS4 students receive high-quality impartial careers guidance, which helps them to make informed choices about which courses suit their academic needs and aspirations. Furthermore, all pupils have a dedicated careers lesson on their timetable each week, known as Brighter Futures, which supports pupils in developing their understanding of labour market information, careers and the world of work alongside employability skills. Additionally, Longdon Hall school is working hard to ensure that all pupils have the possibility to carry out internal work placements, and where possible, support KS4 pupils to undertake work experience with external providers.
